Sending it

Hey everyone, still here in quarantine, seems like we'll probably be here for a while longer since the virus continues to spread. But I've gotten used to it and figured out how to make the most of our time inside. It all came down to being humble and relying on the Lord. Praying a lot has helped me stay in tune with the God wants me to do each day. It's weird, missionary work is so much different now, but it still goes forward. And we're all pretty motivated as well. Everyone once in a while one of the Elders in the apartment kind of has enough of quarantine and goes a little crazy. Some things that I've witnessed this week during what I call 'quarantine-breakdowns' included an Elder slicing a watermelon in half with a machete, another one taking a shower while fully dressed, and another one trying to slee p with his mattress on top of him instead of the other way around.
It sounds crazy but somehow the work still goes forward.
 I actually didn't have a lot of time this week to participate in those kind of breakdowns because I was so busy reading the Book of Mormon. I set a goal to read it cover to cover in 7 days and did so this week. Originally I thought I might not get a lot out of it, but it turned out to be a huge blessing. I felt the power of it in my life. The more I studied the Book of Mormon, the happier and more motivated I was, and overall a better missionary and a better person. I testify that it does contain the word of God and teaches us all about who Jesus Christ is and what He did for us. I loved the exercise of reading it in a week and I've made a new goal to read all the Standard Works this transfer. It's been good to use the downtime we so often have in quarantine to study the scriptures.

Elder Yang and I have gotten much closer with the members here. Although the majority of our lessons happen over a video call, we're forming strong relationships with them. I'm witnessing the gospel changing their lives. We're also having more opportunities to teach people the gospel, such as an old Chinese lady we've been teaching English to. We started teaching her about Jesus and she's so cute- she diligently writes down everything we say. Also her prayers are straight poems and so genuine. I love the moments that I get to see somebody really understand these truths for the first time. 
The gospel and missionary work brings such joy to my life. The circumstances are definitely abnormal and there's a lot of things we could complain about. But I feel so positive and I can only attribute that to God lifting me up and supporting me to do His work. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and happy during this time.

Hey everybody hope you're having fun with the snow and the cold, it's in the 80s here in Australia. We had another good week and honestly a lot of cool moments. The biggest thing I'm learning right now is how to rely on the Lord and always trust that He has a plan for us even when we can't see it for ourselves. We had an amazing opportunity to go to the Sydney Operahouse and watch a performance. Our mission president authorized it and sent all us missionaries from the city to go see an acrobatics show. It was so awesome, seeing people do flips and stuff was so exciting and reminded me of my life back home where I was always jumping off cliffs and bridges and stuff. It was the first time I've gone to a show and said all my side comments in Chinese, since half the missionaries there were the Chinese ones. Corona Ball

Hey everyone,  Situation is definitely crazy but spirits are high. So we got moved to some random suburb outside the city and got quarantined. We can only go out if we have a scheduled lesson, so we do most of our lessons on video call. It's been fun to still be speaking Chinese to all my new friends I've made here. I love learning Chinese so much, it's been one of the biggest blessings of my mission. This week has been so weird, we've spent a lot of time inside. After we studied the scriptures as much as we could and called everyone on our phones, we were still left with a lot of time. So we made up a sport called Corona Ball so we can get some exercise.  My mindset is just to do my best and trust that the Lord has a plan. Pet Cemetery

Hey everyone, just in case you are wondering, the fires here in Australia are getting better. There were some really smoky days last week where we weren't allowed to go outside, but other than that it's improved. Everybody in the country and a lot of the people in the world fasted for rain last week. The next day, it rained. It was a huge miracle and since then we've had the rain we need. Thank you for the prayers.  So, what about the missionary work? Well, it's been pressing forward and we've had some cool experiences.  The first one is about a giant spider. Well all my jokes at the beginning of my mission about seeing giant spiders finally paid off. There I was at 6:32 AM, stumbling into the bathroom, grabbing my toothbrush, sitting there brushing my teeth not even thinking straight and still trying to open my eyes.
